Nerf Hammershot 24 Shot Cylinder Break Action

The hand cannon Thorn from Destiny 2 has always been one of my favorite hand cannons as far as aesthetics go. I had a Nerf Hammershot lying around and wanted to see what mods I could print for it and saw the 16 dart inline cylinder by hitchhiker4200 and was fascinated. I also saw some other break-action mods for the Hammershot but didn't quite like them for my purposes so I decided to create my own. I liked the 16-dart cylinder by hitchhiker4200 but wanted extra capacity so I got the files from hitchhiker and made the cylinder into a 24-half-dart capacity. The gun does need to be essentially sawed in half with the front section being cut off about a millimeter or 2 behind the cylinder. The 2 hinge inserts need to be inserted into the round tube-looking shape at the bottom of the gun. Then I melted a hole into either side of the round part and used 2 screws from the gun to hold the inserts in place. The gun uses mostly stock parts, except for half a pen spring for the locking mechanism and 4 1.5mm dia nails to act as pivots. The metal rod that holds the stock cylinder in place is used as the holder for the rotor. The design is still very much a work in progress but most pieces should be able to fit into place without much modification if any. Most things can be printed at 20% infill to save filament. I use mostly gyroidal infill because I like it. I use Cura to do all of my slicing so this step might be different on different slicers but I used the below tutorial in order to change the infill densities to 100% on potential weak areas such as hinge points, thinner parts of the main body, and the lock bar insert. Feel free to print at 100% infill for all parts. I am just a broke college student who is trying to conserve filament for various projects. I also used a .2mm layer height with inserts for all parts touching everywhere except for the rotor, rotation mechanism, faceplate, lock lever, muzzle, and cylinder. https://youtu.be/jG9SAC-uuwM?si=K_OJRI0dSpCX4d5WThe cylinder prints differently than everything else. Ensure that the cylinder is printed spiralized at .2mm layer height and 20mm/s wall speed. For all specs on printing the cylinder, I highly recommend checking out hitchhiker4200's design on the 16-shot spiralized cylinder or his 8-shot spiralized cylinder. I also recommend printing the rotational mechanism at a finer layer height than .2mm. I find the mechanism can fail to engage sometimes because of some blobbing on the top of the fins of the mechanism. The mechanism was remixed from Horsengineer's 8-shot cylinder rotational mechanism because i couldn't get my designs to work for the life of me. I chopped off the top rectangular insert in order to add the interlocking part similar to what is found on the stock Hammershot. As for assembly, I wanted to retain the ability to dismantle the blaster in case something breaks. If you don't care about that, you can glue everything together in any way you want. I used some 1.5mm nails that I had lying around as hinge pins for the main body hinge and the lever lock. It might be a tight fit as it was for me. I used a candle to heat the nails to help them slightly melt the plastic and ensure a perfect fit. Half of a standard pen spring is inserted below the lever lock to ensure it always engages on the lock. I just cut mine in half with a pair of wire cutters. Test the spring strength and cut it to whatever length you desire as long as it works in the design. For the foam on the plunger tube on the Hammershot itself, i removed it and used a small part of a Mega Dart. It was then super glued on and then cut to size so that the break action could fully close but still contact the back of the cylinder creating a good seal. The muzzle is optional because I didn't like the way the front of the gun looked without it. It can be glued into place using some pins or cut nails as a way to line up the muzzle and main body assembly. This is my first upload to Thingiverse and by far one of my most complex designs so far so hopefully y'all enjoy.
