Nerf Gun - Hard tip projectile
thingiverse
The basic Nerf Gun is a relatively cheap and safe way of investigating ballistics and some energy transfers as part of an educational project The standard projectile has a soft tip for safety reasons, but these don't always fly in a straight line, and compress on impact. The replacement tip presented here can not only make the projectile fly in a more straight line, but more of its energy can be transferred to whatever it hits. The method which worked best for me was to gently remove the original tip from a projectile, and then fix the new tip into the other end which will be slightly smoother inside. The STL file here has a long thin hole in the tip designed to take a cut down dressmaking pin or needle, which would be ideal for bursting balloons, however this has not printed cleanly so far, and I need to go back to that at some point. The tip here was printed on a Geeetech i3 printer, using SLA filament, but in theory it could be printed in any medium. Under no circumstances should these be used to shoot at other people, it really hurts.
