Nerf Dart Compatible Launcher - The Ultima K.E.R. 2+(Key to Every Room)

Reading about the contest in the 3D printing Facebook group, I decided to create this Nerf Dart Compatible Launcher. As stated in the rules, the design must be an entirely original creation and not something that was previously owned or used. So, I began designing it using 123Ddesign software. Because the rules emphasize functionality, the percentage of 3D printed parts compared to off-the-shelf components, and printability, I decided that the rifle should be made up as much as possible from 3D printed parts with minimal other materials involved. This eliminated a number of my ideas because they were more complex or required electronics like motor drivers, microcontrollers, servos, etc. This led me to develop a mostly mechanical operated rifle that would function as well as possible. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way around using two DC motors and batteries; otherwise, it would have been a blowgun. The idea of making the rifle large (72CM tall) came from visiting a toy store where the manager told me that all kids are looking for the biggest Nerf guns and rifles they can find. They cost between $150 to $300 to buy, so my goal was set to build a similar rifle. I chose an A.R. style rifle look and started designing. A gun of this size would easily print at a cost of up to $200 but now it's possible to print the parts for about $40. I hope that many parents, teachers, and especially children will build this blaster and have fun with it. It's a great project for parents to do with their kids, so make your child's day and print it! P.S. The model is too large to get the drawing on YouMagine correct, so there are pictures as well to show how it should look when assembled.
