Nerf Blaster Optics
thingiverse
This will fit most Nerf Blasters with tactical rails, but it won't work with the Elite Distruptor because its front sight is about 2mm too tall. It took roughly 8 hours to print the design. The dimensions were developed based on the Retaliator, as it was the most restrictive of the blasters available for testing. The fit on the rails of the Revoltinator, Ripchain, and Fortnite AR-L was more forgiving. A test gauge is included in the files that can be printed to check the fit to the rail of your specific blaster. This took a bit over an hour to print, and adjusting the dimensions/tolerances with this test piece will be much faster than printing the entire model. I printed the test gauge vertically so that support wouldn't be required, and used brim to ensure it didn't get knocked out of position by the extruder. You can also use this gauge as a base model to design your own. The design features a cantilevered spring that is printed separately. This spring engages into a notch feature in the top of the blaster's rail, holding the optics in place while allowing for easy removal. I designed it separate because laying it down flat on the build plate would make it much stronger than had it been integrated as one piece (the optics were printed vertically to reduce support requirements). Since it is a separate piece, you can remove and replace it if it breaks. The pocket in the optics is designed for a light press fit, allowing you to visually check that the placement is correct before securing it with super glue. Note that the detent spring is shown in the wrong position in the first photo - it should be flipped over so that the vee-shaped tooth points towards the blaster rail. The squared-off end of the spring (opposite the tooth) should fit snugly into the squared-off end of the pocket in the optics. See the picture with the spring glued in place for reference.
