Nerdy Gurdy 6.3 Short Tangents
thingiverse
I made these revised shorter tangents for folks who have problems with the melody strings on their Nerdy Gurdy 6.3 hitting and buzzing against the tips of the tangents. These will give 2 mm of additional room for the string.I've made two versions of the tangents, a standard and a thin. This way we have thicker and stronger tangents on most of the keys, and thin ones only on the upper keys. The thin ones are used on upper row keys 8, 9, and 10 and lower row keys 11, 12, 13, and 14.I've also changed the radius on the back of the tangent to be concentric with the center hole. This way the back length doesn't change as you adjust the tangent. Now about the 30 degree versions:If you turn a stock NG 6.3 tangent pretty far, say 30 degrees, the tip becomes 0.90 mm shorter, and the back becomes 0.25 mm shorter. The key will drop back the 0.25 mm to contact the box wall, and the total travel of the key increases by 1.15 mm, just for that key. So every key will have different travel and sit at a different height if it's tangent has been adjusted from straight up.With my shorter tangents the travel is 2 mm longer, but at 30 degrees of adjustment they only become 0.67 mm shorter. You can use the alternate 30 degree optimized tangents to correct that, so both tangents will tend to hit the strings at the same time. So there are:1) Standard short - need 142) Standard tall - need 203) Thin short (keys 8, 9, 10) - need 64) Thin tall (keys 11,12,13,14) - need 85) 30 degree short (optional)6) 30 degree tall (optional)I'd print off a full set of Standard and Thin, set them up and tune them. Then go back and see which needed alot of adjustment and replace those with the 30 degree version for those spots. You'll need to mirror the tangent model in your slicer as needed to get the tips pointing the right way. These need a good printer, resin prints would be best. If using a standard FDM 3d printer it would be good to slightly sand/file the nose of the tangent after printing to eliminate layer lines.
