Neptune fighting an Octopus

This iconic statue of Neptune conquering an octopus forms part of Rome's majestic Fountain of Neptune in Italy. The ornate basin dates back to the 16th century, but this grandiose sculpture was not added until 1878 by master sculptor Antonio della Bitta. As the Roman god of both freshwater and the sea, Neptune held immense power and reverence. In the Greek-influenced pantheon, he stood proudly alongside his brothers Jupiter and Pluto, who respectively ruled over Heaven, Earth, and the Underworld. As a mighty warrior, Neptune wielded an awe-inspiring weapon - the Trident - that commanded respect from all who crossed its path.
