Neptune 4 Max Printable Front Panel
thingiverse
After moving over to OpenNept4une on my Neptune 4 Max, I decided I wanted to have easier access to the micro-SD slot on the front of my mainboard, but also didn't want to have to cut into or damage the original front panel just in case I ever decide to sell it or revert it back to stock. So... I modeled and designed a printable front panel for it that includes a micro-SD slot. (I also did this so that I could put a small lip under the micro-SD opening so that there wasn't a gap for the card to end up falling inside the unit if you weren't super careful....).I designed it to be in two pieces for easier printing and added a little emblem plate in the front to cover where the two pieces join together (and made a couple of plates to go with it... blank, OpenNept4une logo, Elegoo, etc). As the slope on my front is slightly different to allow for easier modification, I also modeled and included a new drawer that matches up with the look. The original drawer will also still fit but it just doesn't look quite right. There is also a full length one piece front panel included (with or without a spot for the emblem plate) that should JUST barely fit on the N4Max build plate diagonally, though there may be headaches with support placement. For the best look, I found that printing it on its side upside down using tree supports gave the nicest results (and allows all supported surfaces to be hidden when actually installed). That being said, the easiest way to print it is face up with supports underneath, but the top surface comes out looking worse unless you iron it (and even then the stair step effect is quite visible on the bevels unless you print at like 0.1mm layer height). The inside mounting screw holes are all positioned correctly and line up. For ease of use, I simply made 2.8mm unthreaded holes holes in the plastic that the original M3 screws will fit into and will self thread and work fine as long as you don't overtighten them. I also have a version for 4.2mm brass press-in inserts if anyone wants to go that route (not included, just ask if you want it), but I don't think they are really needed for something that likely won't be removed and reseated all that often. The front panel logo emblem is also designed to be held on with 4 M3x8mm screws (any 6mm or longer should work).I personally used PLA+ to print this, but almost any material should work. The only issue I can foresee with basic PLA is that the very thin slight lip that protrudes from the top edge might be a bit fragile.
