A prehistoric stone tool fragment, forged from Langdale epidotized tuff stone, dates back to the Neolithic Period, spanning between 4000 and 2350 BC. The rough-hewn block is oval in shape and curved in profile, boasting a rectangular cross-section. The axehead's edges were carefully chipped away, giving it a crude, axe-like form, but its makers never completed their work. Bulbous faces and a coarse surface reveal that the tool was left unfinished, likely due to unforeseen circumstances that halted production. Dimensions include 185 millimeters in length, 101 millimeters in width, and 33 millimeters in thickness, with an overall weight of 759 grams. Further information about this ancient artifact can be found on the Finds website, where it is cataloged as part of their database under reference number 602922.
