UPDATE (OCT-11-2015): A robust modular motor attachment has been added, replacing the old one, and providing a more reliable connection. Additionally, a new clip separator (Z-Scale as needed) supports different laser modules without requiring reprints or redesigns of existing parts. This change was made to accommodate the new laser module. UPDATE (AUG-20-2015): Even more images have been added. UPDATE (AUG-19-2015): Fan mounts and additional pictures have been included. This pin mount securely attaches a laser module to a Nema17 motor, utilizing screws to connect the external laser pin. The holes for the laser module must be drilled or edited in the FreeCAD sources, depending on the specific module being used. Once attached, the laser module is easily secured to the rail-like pin (up-down). A single M3 screw connects the support to the motor via the extruder mount. The plain front part of the support allows for cable chain and fan connections for the laser module. Common laser modules can be quickly attached, provided the printer's limits and endstops are checked first. This design has been tested on a L3K extruder. The laser module used is a TTL-driven 2W 450nm model, although it was only set to 1% power in the photos to avoid disturbing the camera. Customized Marlin firmware supports laser M03/M05 commands and new menus for controlling the laser from the LCD screen. The TTL driver is controlled by the PWM pin 44 on the Arduino board. Happy laser CNC'ing!!!
