I took the existing Proxxon stepper motor mounts, which can be found on http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:151185 created by Erdinger, and made some adjustments to make them compatible with my Nema 23 steppers. Since I wanted to integrate these motors into my Proxxon MF 70 micro mill setup, it was essential that they function seamlessly. The original coupler design wasn't perfect for my motors as it didn't account for the small pin passing through the shaft. I remixed the coupler design to accommodate this feature, which now securely fastens the coupler to the motor shaft. The updated coupler takes advantage of the existing setup without requiring any major modifications. As part of optimizing my system's performance, I created a stabilizing bracket to secure the stationary y-axis. During use, I noticed that the original stepper motor mounts had a tendency to sag, compromising precision and stability. To rectify this issue, I crafted a mounting bracket with a curved surface that snugly fits around my round steppers. A list of materials will be updated at a later time, but the primary modification needed is to lengthen the screws for the mounting points by approximately 10mm compared to the original values specified in the Proxxon design.
