Suspension Clamp for Nema 17 Stepper Motors This clamp enables secure coupling of a bowden style extruder assembly at its center of gravity, aligning with the point of maximum mass (Nema 17 stepper motor) and facilitating elastic constraints to a rigid frame. The clamp is designed to be flexible, featuring compliant elements that allow it to adapt to various Nema 17 motor exterior dimensions affected by manufacturing tolerances. This design is beneficial in reducing both delta carriage effector weight (in direct drive extrusion systems) and minimizing the length of bowden conduit tubes (to decrease load on motors, binding, and hysteresis of pressure on filament being extruded). The hardware required consists of one M3 nut and one M3 x 25mm socket head cap screw. This design is inspired by concepts presented in a similar design hosted elsewhere: http://repables.com/r/531/. Initial results show excellent performance even with 1.75mm filament. To optimize the setup, cut your bowden tube to match the bot's range of motion. A CAD source file is attached for reference and convenience.
