Nema 17 Stepper Motor Mount for 8020
thingiverse
This simple mount facilitates adding a Nema 17 stepper motor set screw on its bottom, which I applied in my DIY 3D laser scanner project (http://lesagegp.wordpress.com/2013/11/03/3d-laser-scanner/). To accommodate the mounting plate, I used M3 captive screws that were 5mm longer than the originals. The M3 holes are counterbored with 0.5 mm added to their diameters for 3D printing compatibility. A sliding nut fits in the 8020 groove; simply spin the stepper motor until its base is firmly against the bar. For securing, use a 1/4-20 set screw or an M6 (tap the center hole accordingly after completing the print); adjust the center hole based on your set screw preference for optimal thread strength. Thicker plates can be made if more thread strength is needed.
