NEMA 17 Stepper Bearing Puller
thingiverse
My printer suddenly started making strange noises, so I tracked down the source to the nose bearing in the extruder motor. It was clear that these cheap shielded bearings needed to be replaced with some new sealed units right away. The only problem now is how to remove the old ones without causing any damage. But then it hit me - I have a 3D printer, so I can print a solution! I designed and printed this replacement part using PLA filament, which turned out to fit perfectly in place. To assemble it, you'll need a 4mm x 50mm screw and nut. Simply thread the nut onto the screw, then press the assembly into the hex opening from the bottom side. When I printed this part at 60% infill with three perimeters and layers on top and bottom, it turned out to be surprisingly durable.
