This driver pulley complements my 608zz Idler Pulley and stand (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:155018). It attaches to the stepper motor bottom, aligning with the top idler pulley for parallel strings. Designed in Sketchup, it requires about 0.8mm thick string, offering 3 turns and 8 revolutions for full height movement with minimal deflection. Discussing whether to include spokes for material savings, I redrew the pulley in OpenSCAD using Karl Maximilian's Metric Screw Thread Library (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:31363). Realizing not all Nema 17 stepper motors have flat sides on their shafts, I added a version with round shaft hole and three holding screws at 120-degree intervals. A scad file allows toggling FlatShaft and holding screw holes, experimenting with polyholes for potential improvements. Gineer R&D contributed to the design.
