NEMA 17 Precision Gearbox with Position Feedback

thingiverse

This is a precision 3D printed gearbox design for NEMA 17 stepper motors, engineered with close to zero backlash in the mechanism. The use of GT2 belts and pulleys enables smooth operation. Furthermore, this gearbox features servo-like capabilities thanks to its optional embedded Hall Effect Sensor + magnet configuration. This setup allows for the creation of a homing function, effectively transforming it into a servo motor that knows its exact position at all times. While an encoder would offer additional benefits such as lost step detection, the absence of overloading ensures that steps will not be missed.
