Nema 17 mounted pliers

Nema 17 mounted pliers

myminifactory

This object was designed by Sebastien Juishomme for the mechanical theme of the Sinterit design challenge. It is a mechanical pliers that can be mounted on a D-shaft Nema17 stepper motor, allowing it to be attached to a robotic arm for grabbing small pieces or making a 3D printer autonomous. Four M5x12 bolts are used to mount extensions onto the jaws of the pliers, enabling them to grasp any desired object. An example extension is included in the model, demonstrating its versatility. The rest of the design consists of a single piece that can be printed on the Sinterit Lisa, comprising the body, two jaws, and one screw and nut mechanism operated by the motor to move the jaws. The model was created with an SLS machine in mind, incorporating tolerances based on the 3DHubs SLS printing guide. Additionally, evacuation holes have been included to remove powder that may become stuck between parts during the printing process.
