Nema 17 Cooling Fan Mount
thingiverse
Because my step motors produce an excessive amount of heat, I started searching for fan mounts that could be placed directly over my motors. I discovered a multitude of solutions but none of them were designed to fit my Y axis motor. That's why I created these customized designs. I redesigned this after seeing a similar design on Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1409754). The Y axis mount in that design was 2 mm too small for my Y axis motor, so I remade a simplified version using OpenSCAD to allow everyone to adjust the design according to their specific step motor. Since I decided to add some extra parts to my fan, I had to use a tie strap to keep the mount securely attached to the motor. By making the body of the mount larger, you can probably solve this problem or simply leave out the extra parts. The mount for the X axis is always a square that fits snugly at the back of the step motor. If you have any questions or comments about my designs, please feel free to leave a note below. I printed this using a Prusa i3. The nozzle diameter was 0.35mm in PLA. I sliced it with Slic3r, using a layer height of 0.2mm, an infill density of 30% honeycomb, a brim width of 3mm, and an average print speed of 50mm/s at a temperature of 190°. I used the 3D tool to verify every critical parameter. https://www.3d-tool.com/en/free-viewer-download.htm
