Nema 11 Planetary Gear Box, parametric, stackable
thingiverse
A planetary gearbox specifically designed for Nema 11 stepper motors, ideal for applications requiring precise speed control. The gearbox can be mounted on either the front or rear side of the motor, providing flexibility in system design. Utilized for a CNC tailstock setup on my Unimat SL lathe, this device allows for improved positional accuracy and repeatable motion. Created using OpenScad software, allowing users to easily customize the design as needed. Modification and optimization possibilities abound! The gear ratio is user-configurable through stacking modules. For example: * Single stack configuration yields a 1:3.75 gear reduction * Two-stack setup results in a more significant gear reduction of approximately 1:14.0625, or even higher Videos demonstrate successful implementation of the planetary gearbox on various mounts. Mounting examples showcase its use with either a single or double stacking module setup. **Assembly Requirements:** For optimal performance, the following components are needed: * A 5mm rod * One Bearing 685 * Four (2x for single stack, 4x for dual stack) M2.5 bolts, each approximately 5mm in length * Two M3 setscrews * Two M3 nuts * Two M3 bolts with a thread diameter of 10mm When printing the gearbox casing, it is crucial to utilize support structures to achieve accurate prints. **Assembly Note:** Post-printing requires the cutting of M3 threads for rod and rotor alignment.
