NELO kayak rudder nut
thingiverse
This replaces the original rudder nut. This one is a bit narrower, giving more direct rudder authority, which means tighter corners. It's also stiffer than the original plastic version of Nelo, as shown in the last picture. This helps prevent losing your rudder because the bolt won't work itself loose. After printing (in this order): - Drill the small holes open so your rudder cable fits easily. A 3 mm drill does the trick. - Drill the vertical hole for the rudder shaft with a 6 mm drill bit, and test fit it. - Drill out the horizontal hole so an M5 bolt (use a 25 mm stainless steel hex if you need to replace the original Nelo bolt with its sloppy nylon head) loosely fits in. - File out the space so it loosely fits an M5 nut. Then remove the original nut from your kayak and replace it with this new one. Enjoy your kayaking! A 123d file is included for your use. Feel free to improve it if you like, but don't sell it commercially!
