Nekhbet stands out as a pioneering predynastic local goddess in Egyptian mythology, revered by the people of Nekheb - a city whose name is synonymous with hers. As time went on, she expanded her influence to become Upper Egypt's patron deity, then one of two esteemed patrons for all Ancient Egypt when it was finally unified under one rule.
