Neje Master 2 low profile AirAssist for 40W
thingiverse
The buildin "airassist" of the 30W and 40W Neje Master 2 models is more or less useless. As i don't own a compressor i searched for a better solution. The air assist is just 4mm high - so a cutting distance as low as 5mm (recommended distance by NEJE) is possible. I choose 8mm to have a bit more clearance. My design needs two 4010 radial fans (12V easiest as they can be split from printer main power, im using 24V from 3d printer). Both fans are "glued" with double sided adhesive to the sides, the air assist is just "clamped" and can be easily removed. The results are quite astonishingly better. Nearly no burn marks on plywood, good underside too if ventilated. BEWARE 1: there is no hole for the laser - you either have to tap it with a drill or let the laser do his work. For me a 1mm drill was enough but it can vary based on your fans. BEWARE 2: As most fumes are pushed through the work piece you have to ventilate the under side - else flare ups are possible. HINT 1: You need a good printer for bridging. The whole tunnel is bridged with 3-4cm long bridges - so dial up coooling and use PLA.
