Neighborhood Trolley
thingiverse
This is a scale model of the Neighborhood Trolley from Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. Mr. Rogers was an extremely kind and gentle educator of young children on public television in America from the 60's into the new millennium. He taught kids valuable lessons about kindness, respect, and the fundamental importance of every person, while also helping them make sense of this sometimes frightening world that adults have created. This is a work in progress, and I intend to turn this into a motorized vehicle with lights and the iconic trolley sounds from the original TV show. That may take some time, so I wanted to get this posted during the 50th anniversary year of Mr. Roger's television show. Hey kids - can you say LAZY? I knew you could. Yes, Mr. Reactron has been extremely lazy, but he's finally gotten back to this project in time for the new Tom Hanks film 'A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood' coming soon to a theater near you! The new STL files are designed for printing a real model of the trolley, which can be glued together with 3mm brass wire for the front and rear posts and 1/4 inch square dowels for the upright posts. I hope to get all the modeling done in the next week or so - check back soon to see the finished trolley and get the build details. All parts are now available for printing. One thing I changed in Cura was the dimensions of the rooftop signs - these were altered individually to 132mm long by 9mm high by 5.4mm thick. I glued everything together using Bob Smith 2-part CA glue (the thick kind). I used 1/4'' square wooden dowel rod for the upright posts because I thought it would need extra strength, but I now think that printing them would have been better. I've included a printable part for that. The seat-side model was mirrored in Cura and I painted the red decoration after printing.
