Needle's Eye folly

A 45-foot-high sandstone pyramid, adorned with an ornamental urn perched atop a Gothic ogee arch, dominates a former access road leading from Wentworth Woodhouse in South Yorkshire, UK northwards towards the prestigious Pontefract and York racecourses. Constructed in the mid-18th Century, this imposing structure was allegedly built as a boastful wager after the 1st Marquis claimed he could drive a coach and horses through the eye of a needle!
