Needle Holder
prusaprinters
My partner always had difficulty with transporting her sock needles. Being quite pointy on both ends they always managed to put a hole in any knitting bag she had. Unable to find a good sized container I designed this. This was my first ever design.Print SettingsPrinter Brand:CrealityPrinter: Ender 3Rafts:NoSupports: NoResolution:200Infill: 20Filament: eco3D PLA White Notes: I set the layer height fairly small for the threads as tolerances are tight.UPDATE: in the modern era I would just variable layer height as most of the tube can have quite big layers, it's just the threads that can do with a smaller height. Post-PrintingMaking the Threads SmoothI have printed many versions of the threads as I was learning. They sometimes require a bit of cleaning (e.g. removing debris between them with a knife or sand paper) and then screwing in and out a few times before they screw smoothly.I may redesign the threads at some point to see if I can improve them - but they do work.UPDATE: that was written many years ago, printing at a maker space on a MakerBot. I now have an Ender 3 at home and the threads print fine without any post processing apart from screwing it closed and open a few times.Category: Tool Holders & Boxes
