Necklace/Keychain Symbolism - Catholic Saints and the Sacrament of Confirmation
thingiverse
Students apply knowledge from previous lessons by identifying symbolism that illustrates their understanding. This approach can be adapted for history classes, reading courses, or other subjects with innovative thinking. In my class, eighth-grade students preparing for Confirmation chose a Catholic saint as their subject. These students researched the life and times of their chosen saint, then created a comic book using the Book Creator app to visually represent their findings. Next, they selected a symbol that represented their saint's life story. Using TinkerCAD, students designed a 1.5-inch diameter keychain or necklace blank. They used multiple cylinders to create the top and tube for the chain attachment. After designing the blank, students used the scribble tool to draw their own design or find an image with proper attributions to use as their symbol.
