Nearly Nothing Hot-end
thingiverse
Desperate times call for kludging solutions. My MK6 hotend and I had a tumultuous relationship, prompting me to create an alternative setup using 1/4-inch aluminum and nichrome wire. This DIY hotend is quite risky; do not use it without having a professional on standby. Highlights of this makeshift nozzle include: rapid heating in just 20 seconds, glowing metal, and heightened alertness due to fear of potential danger. If you're daring enough to attempt this hack, please share your experience—and maybe update your will too. To build this kludge, follow these steps: 1. Taper the aluminum bar to 3/8-24 for mounting. 2. Thread the nozzle halfway through and add an insulator tube on the other side. 3. Wrap Kapton tape around the remaining threads of the nozzle. 4. Wind 200mm (4-6 ohms) nichrome wire around the Kapton-taped thread. 5. Securely place the thermocouple in a precarious spot and double-check its stability. 6. Solder the nichrome wire to the heating wire. 7. Bolting the hotend to the attachment plate, complete with a prayer for safety.
