This figure was most likely crafted between 200 B.C.E. and 500 C.E. in the Nayarit region of western Mexico, where skilled artisans often created such artifacts to adorn tombs. The figurine of a pregnant woman was probably designed to pay tribute to a deceased mother who had passed away. The object is now part of the Museum of Art at the University of New Hampshire's vast collection. For more information about this artifact, head over to https://mypages.unh.edu/nayarit.
