Navio2 + Pi3 Case
thingiverse
This is a work in progress that continues to evolve as I find time to add more information. The main objective of this remix is to reduce weight, eliminate non-preferred styling, and enable seamless integration into other peripherals (which will likely extend beyond this project). I recently completed the first print revision of the slim case design. It's incredibly thin, which was the intention, leaving the structure up to the pi - a great concept! The print was done using NylonX with 0.2mm layers, but unfortunately, the retraction settings were subpar. However, other photos reveal several design flaws that need attention. These include: Do we really need to cool the header extension? Expanding and deepening the camera, GPS, and LED viewports, as well as adding ventilation on the front (above the USB/wired network) for airflow through heated spaces rather than just between gaps around them. I also plan to maintain a copy with the USB and network closed off to the world, as a USB dongle is not something you want exposed when flying about. In conclusion, the original author did an impressive job of achieving precision - as evident from my quick assembly and filing, followed by successful functionality without any major issues. While there's room for improvement, it's a great starting point.
