Buste in bronze on the poet and writer Xavier Navarrot (1799-1862) from Béarn. The one-to-one scale sculpture was created by Jean Escoula (1851-1911). Cast by Ets Gruet in Paris, it was installed and inaugurated on Gambetta Square in Oloron Sainte Marie on August 16, 1890. The pedestal bears an inscription: "The Cigaliers, the Félibres and his fellow citizens." The total height of the monument (pedestal + bust) is approximately 2.50 m. In Oloron, where the mist was sketching its outline, And the fog was rising here and there, I had flown over the roofs of Oloron, And set them ablaze with all their light. The bell tower that shines at the top of the seminary Seemed like the lantern of that great luminary; And old Senta-Crotz who lengthened his walk With a bald head as smooth as a vulture's wing.
