Naval Cannon
thingiverse
This 18th-century naval cannon model replicates the British 24 pdr type found on HMS Victory in 1805. Built between 1785 and 1822, it showcases a detailed gun carriage assembly. Due to its small scale, some adjustments are required. If desired, the cannon can be split for scaling up printing. Thanks to Steffen for taking excellent photographs. The side parts consist of two or more pieces screwed together with M1.4 threaded rods (M1.6 may require rebored holes). Nuts on each side counteract loosening and getting lost. Stud anchor bolts feature round head square necks and short-threaded ends. Wheels are one-sided beveled, printed at 0.2 layer height with 0.3 mm width. The small handle can be fashioned using a heated filament or by enlarging the hole in a shim. Print settings for axes, clamps, straps, and shims: layer height = 0.2, width = 0.3 mm; all other parts: layer height = 0.3, width = 0.5 mm.
