Nature Quadcopter Drone Frame (Generative Design)
thingiverse
Drone model designed by nature itself. After topology optimization, other software was used to refine small details. To attach electronics and battery to the chassis, a rope-like attachment method is recommended. If users prefer a specific attachment design, I can create a custom 3D model. I believe that with some feedback, the model can be almost perfect. For ABS Material, the actual mass is 14.645 g according to stress analysis results. Maximum stress supported by the model is 0.86 MPa, while the factor of safety is 37.561 (which may seem exaggerated). Maximum displacement is 12.642 micrometers or 0.012642 mm. During simulation setup, it was necessary to choose a constrained face, although in reality, there's no fixed face on a drone. This might limit the simulation's realism. I tried various configurations, but similar results were obtained. In another simulation software, the "bridge" between motor arms may be prone to buckling, but this only occurs with that specific program.
