Nato 12 pin female trailer socket
thingiverse
I had acquired a vintage Australian Army No5 trailer and encountered difficulty locating suitable connectors for sale at a reasonable cost. Consequently, I designed this connector assembly myself. It utilizes six 2.5mm crimp-able connections (available from https://au.rs-online.com/web/p/circular-connector-contacts/3957397/, with US-based alternatives available at https://www.te.com/usa-en/product-929975-1.html). To ensure accurate pin assignment, I recommend printing the single connector test jig and using an additional crimp connector. Then, connect a 12V battery's ground to the trailer and its positive terminal to the tester. It's essential to employ a fuse for safety; however, if you hear a spark, it likely indicates a ground pin issue. The bare minimum required is the connector itself, along with the lid and outer ring, which enhance the assembly's appearance. This configuration functioned satisfactorily during my initial use period of several weeks, after which I successfully obtained an authentic NATO plug equipped with the pintle ring.
