Nativity Manger Ornament

This was a fantastic ornament to design. Originally, I had envisioned the dome fully encircling the manger scene but then it necessitated scaffolding, which isn't very appealing. Fortunately, cutting away part of the dome resulted in a cleaner look. A small hole is situated behind the manger so you can insert a light and make the scene glow with an ethereal ambiance. Moreover, there's ample space on the underside to inscribe a family name and year. Print Settings Printer: FlashForge Creator Pro Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.4 mm Infill: 30% Notes: The photos depict a model printed with Hatchbox's 1.75 PLA wood composite filament. My FFCP has lost its blue printer bed cover, so I resorted to using painter's tape. Temperature was set at 220F for the nozzle; however, this may be a tad too high as there were strings present. The bed temperature was maintained at 90F, but if you possess a good print bed, you could possibly go as low as 70F. It is probable that with a higher resolution and slower speed, the dome would exhibit significantly fewer imperfections. Post-Printing To refine the finish: if using wood-PLA, a gentle sanding with 120-grit sandpaper will smooth out any roughness. This model responds well to acrylic paint, can be carved after printing, or stained for a more rustic appearance. How I Designed This This is the original ornament featuring a quarter dome. Unfortunately, it got messy approximately two-thirds of the way up. Revised ornament.
