Native American Medallion - University of Akron
sketchfab
Found in the Student Recreation and Wellness Center on the campus of the University of Akron. "In 1975, The University of Akron transformed Spicer School into Spicer Hall, which for the next quarter century housed counseling, scheduling, and administrative offices. Four medallions highlighted the entrances to Spicer Hall - each centered above the terra cotta portals that surround its main doors in the decorative brick cornice. The four medallions continue to honor Akron's history by invoking that symbol throughout the Student Recreation Center. These large terra cotta pieces, weighing nearly 500 pounds each, were placed here prominently to echo their original installation." Created in partnership with the University of Akron and Stewards of Historical Preservation (SHiP).
