National Freedom Heroes' Monument The National Freedom Heroes' Monument is the national landmark of Bangladesh, built to honor the bravery and sacrifice of all those who lost their lives in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, which brought independence and separated Bangladesh from Pakistan. The monument stands proudly in Savar, about 35 kilometers north-west of the capital city of Dhaka. It was skillfully designed by renowned architect Syed Mainul Hossain.
