National Geographic CF114 1.25" adapter for DSLR/mirrorless cameras
thingiverse
The National Geographic CF 114mm telescope is a fun budget entry level telescope, but the focuser is quite large. I could not get my camera in prime focus to actually focus on planets and stars. The top of the focuser is just a piece of plastic that is screwed onto the plastic drawtube. I modeled a replacement in TinkerCAD, giving it a smaller profile on the draw tube and actually extending the 1.25" adapter that is part of it. This results in about 15mm more inward travel and a more secure fit for eyepieces. Now I can focus on objects in the night sky and take photos without using a barlow lens. The images are of the Orion Nebula and the Pleiades.
