Natica leviathan (Lower Cretaceous, Barremian-Albian, approximately 130-110 million years). Sierra de Segura (Jaén). Class Gasteropoda, Superfamily Campaniloidea, Family Ampullinidae. The fossil mollusk Natica leviathan is one of the largest gastropods that can be found in the Iberian Peninsula. This specific specimen measures 19 cm. It was a marine herbivorous epifaunal gastropod that inhabited shallow areas of marine platforms. Usually, it is preserved as an internal mold. Unit of Natural Heritage of the Center for Advanced Studies in Earth Sciences (CEACTierra) of the University of Jaén.
