In this project, compared to NASA Welding (NASA Weld) I wanted to take into account all the shortcomings and minimize the weight and dimensions of the device. To do this I changed the heating method. Now this is a pyrotechnic composition - you need very little of it (I think no more than 1 gram). After tightening the antenna panels with standard cables, the contacts of the opposite panels should touch. A high voltage between the contacts will be turned on - a spark will ignite the pyrotechnic composition - the ends of the cylinders will heat up to the melting point, and the gas pressure will compress the bushings. Bushings made of mild weldable steel. Once cooled it will be a very strong joint. The ignition can be individual for each cylinder or for a group of (all) cylinders.Battery and high voltage converter with remote control (radio).(Here you can use a fire cord; if it burns in water, it will burn in a vacuum :-))Added weight for each panel is about 30 gramsEverything is very simple. If you have any questions I will try to answer______________*When I was a young engineer, I tested a device that was heated with a special pyrotechnic composition. The combustion took place at a very high temperature, but very little smoke (gases) was released. After the explosion, the device did not violate the tightness of the vacuum cavity.
