Hot off the press .... December 23rd, just in time for Christmas. This is the first-ever tool emailed to space and printed in orbit! I still haven't even had a chance to print it, it's so hot out of my printer right now. I found it here: http://nasa3d.arc.nasa.gov/detail/wrench-mis. However, the file wouldn't download on either IE8 or Firefox, but it did finally work by zipping it in Android and transmitting the .zip to my PC. Apparently, NASA engineers have forgotten something fundamental despite their intelligence being on a galactic scale – they forgot to change the file permissions. Anyway, here it is for everyone back on Earth to enjoy! UPDATE: I took a print using PLA with my K8200 at 0.2mm layers. The centre section of this wrench seems meant to turn and ratchet but unfortunately, mine fused together when I printed it. It looks like the clearance needs increasing for earth-bound printers; perhaps that's something NASA could consider for their space-friendly design.
