NASA Pinhole Camera Mounting Bracket
thingiverse
UPDATE: V2 offers enhanced offsets, stronger reinforcements, and faster print times using less material. Print on the back with vertical prongs resting on the print bed, secured with supports. NASA has made available a set of state-shaped pinhole cameras designed for 3D printing at https://eclipse2017.nasa.gov/3d-stl-files, but unfortunately, the meshes lack proper formation, so preprocessing through MeshLab is recommended at http://www.meshlab.net/. The existing design fell short in one key area: mounting brackets. With only two hands available, a secure tripod mount was essential, prompting the creation of this bracket. Simply insert your chosen pinhole camera plate into the arms and attach the tripod mount to your camera's tripod or utilize the GoPro-style mounting version if you have a spare GoPro mount handy. Although released somewhat belatedly, these models must be printed and tested tonight to make use of them tomorrow, August 21st, when the solar eclipse takes place.
