A detailed, textured model of the NASA Mercury 6 'Friendship 7' capsule is meticulously crafted. The capsule's interior and controls are intricately designed and included. A bonus 'Liberty7' texture is also provided as an added feature. Note that Friendship 7 was launched atop an Atlas rocket. Textures Detailed bump and color maps are carefully rendered. History The Mercury 6 mission marked a groundbreaking attempt by the U.S. and the Mercury program to place an astronaut in orbit. The MA-6 mission was successfully launched on February 20, 1962, from Launch Complex 14 at Cape Canaveral, Florida. The flight utilized Atlas #109-D and Mercury spacecraft #13. The spacecraft was named Friendship 7. It completed three earth orbits, piloted by astronaut John Glenn, the first American to orbit the Earth.
