NASA Lunar Sampler - P3D
grabcad
This text describes a tubular system with mechanical vibration that collects and filters samples for presentation to a selection screen. The system can be stored by folding, weighs 0.494 kg, and consumes zero power as it is driven by an external manipulator arm. Layered sample packing, adjustable aperture opening, and full aluminum construction are other key features. Samples are deposited into a cylinder container placed on a targeted base plate for visual confirmation. The lander's manipulator arm needs two fingers to select aperture positions, sharing the same rotation axis. A transportation screw blade attached to the tube's inside surface rejects rocks over 2 cm, with larger ones expelled through a top exit aperture. Additional information can be found in the attached PDF document.
