NASA Hubble Space Telescope (cleanup)
thingiverse
This is an updated version of the original HST model available from NASA here. The original model gave me a lot of trouble with supports breaking and poor fit at 100% scale on my FFF machine, so I made some significant changes. This new set should be more resistant to breakage and come together with minimal sanding required. I enlarged the radio dishes and solar panels themselves to show more detail. I also beefed up the rods connecting them to the coupler to prevent breakage. Additionally, I shrunk the parts that snap into the coupler to provide a .2mm tolerance. The cover hatch now has a solid hinge and longer rods to attach to the main body. I removed the support structure since my machine makes supports automatically. In the main body, I made the column supporting the secondary mirror much wider. Getting the Main Body into the Body Coupler still requires some sanding, but not as much as before. To keep the model together, you'll need to glue the parts into place.
