NASA Hand Rail Clamp Track Inclusion
grabcad
A pair of identical clamps forms a sturdy clamp system, featuring no moving parts or intricate details. The T-down-stud is integral for optimal use of plastic material, enclosed within the assembly except for its bottom face. A washer is included to prevent bending stress on the stud, ensuring only drag stress. The profile shape allows easy placement of the clamp on the rail with minimal friction. To secure the system, simply push the T-down-stud into the T-groove of the clip and attach an identical clamp face-to-face on the other side. By hand-tightening a nut, the clamps lock together. However, tightening with a tool to mount a device will cause the faces to press down, creating a hard lock on the rail; the top and bottom faces are intentionally non-parallel to the washer for this purpose.
