NASA EAS

The NASA Experiment Attachment System (EAS) Challenge features a lightweight yet rigid structure made from aluminum alloy 1060 tubing. Consisting of four parts, each component is joined by a bayonet mechanism to form two distinct sections. These components feature laboratory-grade veneer and will only require threaded steel parts for attachment to the rail. The assembly process is simplified with eight nuts coupling reserve requirements, which can be easily tightened by hand or tool. Notably, all anchor components are armored on land, eliminating the need for complex space station assemblies. Additionally, no small parts will be lost during installation. The entire assembly fits within a compact 26" x 16" x 14" box, with each part fully armed and requiring only the steps outlined in the pictured instructions (step 1, step 2, and step 3).
