NASA Clamp Challenge Slide Clamp
grabcad
A unique clamp design was created for a challenge; sliding parts lock together via dovetail design and arching slides. The top and bottom clamp pieces fit tightly, snapping into place due to the slide's arch travel. The arched, dovetailed keyways enhance pull strength by tightening parts together over the rail. Printed in Z direction, the parts are within area guidelines and require no material support. Testing revealed rigidity and load-bearing capacity, with 179.5 lbs of weight applied without deflection. ABS material proved strong for required weight, making this a successful project.
