NASA Challenge: New Transonic Wind Tunnel Test Section
grabcad
Hi! This is my entry into the NASA Challenge. I made a wind tunnel test section which can be opened and entire modules with models attached to them can be swapped in and out. The modules are configurable to different types of models (planes, rockets, shuttles, ...). Based on the need, they can be adjusted and changed in the depot and then brought into the test section once ready, wasting no time with setting them up inside the test section. They are moved on standard rails and once pushed into the test section, their connections immediately snap, enabling data transfer, power and pneumatics. The module itself is built out of standard aluminium extrusions and some custom machined components and standard parts. The test section has a large viewing window where cameras can be placed and the panel on the door is configurable to whatever is needed. Should an entire test section be swapped rather than just a model, it can be lifted with a crane that is installed on top of it and swapped for a different section.Read the attached PDF for more information. Thanks!
