I've submitted my first entry for the NASA Challenge: Human-Rated Spacecraft 3D Printing Process Animation. The challenge is available here: https://grabcad.com/challenges/nasa-challenge-human-rated-spacecraft-3d-printing-process-animation. Check out this link for the winning entry in the challenge: NASA Challenge Entry 2 - Tommy Mueller, August 12th - Final Update! - https://youtu.be/UlznHv7mns8. My animation was created using the Unreal Engine and Sequencer, with hundreds of keyframe animations of SolidWorks CAD parts and components. Materials, instanced materials, and material collection parameters were used to control print, machining, and thermal layer effects, while particle effects were added for extra visual interest. The animation covers building the heat shield, aft bulkhead, barrel, forward bulkhead, and tunnel before a quick assembly of crew module parts. I'm happy with the outcome and hope you enjoy it too! Keep an eye out for updates on everyone's entries. In my SolidWorks model, I've included the ORION SPACECRAFT WITH PRESSURE VESSEL, ROBOTIC ARM DESIGN AND TOOLING, COMPOSITE STRUCTURES FOR 3D PRINT AND THERMAL APPLICATION, ENVIRONMENT 3D, and more. I've also uploaded a STEP FILE of the Orion craft and pressure vessel for others to use in their entries. Stay tuned for more updates on my animation progress!
