NASA Bucket Drum Design Challenge

NASA Bucket Drum Design Challenge

grabcad

This is my entry for the RASSOR Bucket Drum Design Challenge. My design consists of two main components (assemblies): an excavating part and a bucket part. The excavator is the rotating component, while the bucket remains relatively stationary. However, when the excavating part extends its arm to lock the bucket in place, the bucket rotates along with it, as shown in the actuator lock position images hili annotated.jpg and actuator lock position in assembly.jpg. Each of the 12 scoops in the drums will scoop up regolith and deposit it at the top of the bucket. To withdraw the regolith, the bucket must be flipped upside down using this same method. Materials Used: Magnesium alloy Dimensions: * Scoop width: 98 mm * Mass: 4.96 kg * Maximum diameter: 400 mm * Maximum length: 360 mm * Ideal volume: 27.72 l * Fill ratio: To be determined (ideally greater than 70%) The download includes Solidworks parts, Solidworks assemblies, STEP files, and STL files.
