NASA BUCKET DRUM DESIGN
grabcad
The variant I'm offering features three containers positioned at a 120-degree angle to each other, all rotating on the same axis. This design consists of three key components: a disk - four pieces, a spiral - three pieces, and a cultivator - three pieces. The way these parts are connected can vary depending on the specific application. For manufacturing, I recommend using Polyimides (PI), such as TECASINT or TECATOR (PAI). With this material, the weight of the bucket-drum will range from 4.5 to 4.8 kilograms. The assembled drum measures 450 mm in diameter and 360 mm in length, with a total volume for regolith between 25 and 27 liters. As it rotates in one direction, the bucket-drum loosens the ground while filling the spiral container with regolith. The spiral's design prevents any regolith from falling out of the drum. When rotated in reverse, the tanks are released back into the ground.
